Customer Reviews:
A CD THAT TRULY CAPTIVATE YOU !.......2005-08-08
If your looking for music that truly moves, I would highly suggest this album! When listening to it your mind drifts to places that fill you with wonder and longingness. I give John Tesh five star for his remarkable work.
The music embraces you.......2004-11-19
I am an avid searcher of the finer music of life.. and whilst John does not fall into the most amazing music i have heard, he certainly takes you somewhere. The music embraces you and doesn't let you go.. and for this I give him 5 stars. It is truly a mature effort. I think it displays great maturity in understanding and theme. He gets this one.
You will definitely find a place for this particular CD in your collection.
Festive, Energetic, Uplifting, Powerful.......2002-12-21
I came upon One World quite by accident. I borrowed my sister's van and found it there. I must say that I was captivated by this CD.
The whole idea of the CD is to present "A Celebration of Music and Dance from around the World." This CD contins the music, there is a video that includes the dance. I was not quite sure what to expect, but was intrigued enough to give it a listen.
The songs on this CD are all festive and lively tunes. I was very empressed and uplifted while listening to it. A couple of the songs even gave me a "lead foot" while driving. There is power and beauty in this collection. I love it!
If you like variety in your music, you will love this collection. If you like power in your music, you will love this collection. If you like to be cheered and uplifted, you will love this collection. If you haven't guessed, I think you'll love this collection.
I think there are samples of some of the tunes here on Amazon.com. Try Sonata Di Roma and Emerald Bay, they are great. I also like St. Agnes' Treasure, but they don't have a sample for your enjoyment.
It is my first experience with the music of John Tesh. It leaves me wanting more!
Great music and performance!.......2001-06-13
If you enjoy instrumental music with passion, variety, and creativity, then you should get this one. The music is beautiful, and in my opinion this is one of JT's best. While some criticize Tesh for using to much accompaniment, I rather appreciate his willingness to allow other talented musicians to showcase those talents (such as Point of Grace on "Who Am I", and Lorenza Ponce's vocal and violin mastery). There is not a bad song on this CD, and the video is even better.
Musical Voyage.......2001-06-01
I was first exposed to the music on this disc while on an airplane flight a couple of years ago - on the plane they showed the video of "Canta Domine," and I admit I was mesmerized. There was John Tesh, playing his piano amid a wide range of disparate musicians in an almost anthemic musical production. I was so impressed by this singular glimpse of this album that I wrote down the name of the song and held onto it until I was finally able to find and buy this disc.
I was not disappointed in my purchase. This disc is a wonderful eclectic musical adventure, complete with instrumentation and musical roots from all over the world, undergirded with good new age music sensibility. This is the kind of disc you listen to over and over again to absorb all of the different aspects of the music.
"Canta Domine" continues to be one of my favorite pieces on this disc, but I find "Valley of Dreams" equally enthralling. Tesh delivers frequent change-ups throughout the collection, with a variety of musical influences and flavors. "Who Am I?" is, for instance, a charming Christian song about God's love, sung by a woman with a supernal, angelic voice - this song is a real gem and will be appreciated by Christians everywhere. The disc includes Celtic, flamenco, Native American, and classical influences. On the final title track, Tesh brings it all together in an integrated piece conjoining all of these musical influences from all over the world.
Having heard the CD, and having seen "Canta Domine" on video, I really want to buy the video - I am sure it will be just as engrossing.
