Customer Reviews:
New Age meets the Middle East.......2003-11-24
First off music reviews is no place for political views as the last reviewer has done. Exotic Middle Eastern textures join modern comtemporary instrumental music. Using synthesizers, samplers and sound effects, his very full bodied sound is much like another artist on this label Ayman. Very much a full bodied soundscape in the vein of David Arkenstone, even David has used the feel of the Middle East as a vehicle. Combing the stunning power of New Age music filled with powerful soundscapes and fiery Arabic percussion help create the sound that is Hisham. A real nice blend of world & New Age music. Fans of Ayman will be right at home here.
Embracing Diversity In the Face of Homogeny.......2003-05-02
I lost this CD several years ago and had to reorder it from Amazon. In 2003, I value more now than ever Hisham's inspirational, innovative music. He blends New Age synthesizers with a unique taste of his own culture in such a exquisite way, truly he bridges the gap of both worlds in this cd. I hope Hisham would produce more New Age albums, for his talent in melding different musical styles is remarkable. We need more New Age artists from all around the world to open our minds to different worlds, and I felt like Hisham accomplished that in this cd. Maybe one day, we will be able to respect our differences and embrace our similarities, and if music can be that medium, Hisham and other artists like him are going in the right direction. Please, stop acting out today the centuries of violence and aggression from our human history. Keep our minds open to the world, for we have much to learn from it. And to the people of Iraq, I appologize to all of you for what the United States has done and will do with your country. You did not deserve this, especially from a President that I feel does not represent the United States. Peace to all, and let us all also embark on a journey of peace, not war. Just as Hisham dedicated this cd to the children who suffered in the conflict of the Balkans in his song Sarajevo, I would like to dedicate Somewhere in a Dream, as a fan of Hisham and his music, to all the children of Iraq and the countless more that suffer in the name of the deceitful war on terrorism. I'm sorry to all of you, this is not how this century should have begun.
Gets Better Over Time.......2002-06-28
This CD really grows on you and becomes a perfect mellowing, meditative, inner journey to some very exotic place. I love it.
Never heard a more perfect musical soundscape........1998-07-06
I have listened to every note on both of Hisham's albums over and over in every mental state, and as long as one is patient, Hishsam always leads you to the place the music should be. He crafts intricate melodies that lead through every emotion including some I've never felt. A must have for symphonic electronic new age power music. They call his music Desert Soul at his label, it fits.
Definitely different! A few great tracks, most average........1998-05-05
The Stone and the Rose is one of the best songs I've ever heard. Bought the CD in Sedona and must have listened to that track 50 times while driving back to Scottsdale.
