Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars The best of the best new age man.......2004-08-14

Once having listened to a huge number of recordings of the so-called "new age" music, I think this recording should be in the five best of the genre. You can also exchange this for "Deep Breakfast" which is highly represented in here with four tracks (Celestial Soda Pop, The Oh of Pleasure, Tiny Geometries and Kathleen's Song). The thing is that there should be more space for another track from "No Blue Thing", which I prefer even more than "Deep Breakfast": apart from "Clouds Below Your Knees" and "The True Spirit of Mom & Dad" (one of the best music pieces written ever), I would have included "Homeward at Last".

This is only to say what I think it has been missed in this compilation. But this recording is marvellous from start to the end. The two new pieces show a very enjoyable music, and the final remix is an example that, when classical tunes have been sampled, they result in a mess. But in this case is the own author who makes the sample and then the version is a total success.

For me, Ray Lynch is the best "new age" man. Only four recordings and this compilation in his career. But what a magnificent handful!

5 out of 5 stars Highly Addictive Music.......2003-04-23

Ray Lynch has quite some talent! This "Best of" CD features 10 of his most loved compositions, plus two brand new tracks and a remix of his most well known piece: "Celestial Soda Pop".

His music is highly melodic. Foot-tapping stuff indeed! The two new tracks are excellent, and it goes without saying that the other compositions are top-notch. The only surprise is the absence of "Ivory", a track many regard as Ray's most beautiful piece.

Ray's music is hard to describe. He uses a great assortment of instruments and produces a huge range of sounds; some very conventional, other really unusual and original. Everything, however, blends together really well and this is the sort of music you'll find yourself whistling at work. It's addictive stuff!

If you enjoy melodic, catchy rhythmic music that's full of life and energy, you're sure to enjoy this CD.

Very highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Best Of ... TRULY!.......2002-07-10

If you think "electronic" music is hokey, TRY THIS CD. It will stir you. It will have you moving to the music. Celestial Sodapop is one of the best electronic pieces I have ever heard and I am old enough to remember MOOG music!

5 out of 5 stars Best if Ray Lynch.......2000-05-07

This is a luscious, compliation of some of Ray's best music. Listening to it recalls all of the deep feelings I felt when hearing the albums for the first time. These pieces are timeless. For the person who has never heard this composer, I would say they have a remarkable experience ahead of them. Try it, you'll like it.

5 out of 5 stars Best of Ray Lynch, Vol. 1.......2000-05-06

Ray's music is truly deep, sublime and happy, all in one. If you only have one of Ray's CD's, this is the one to own, with old and new favorites. I've been a fan of his for years. It's a great way to unwind after work and get into a deeper, feeling mode. His classical background brings a richness and sophistication to his music. It's way beyond the new age category that it's put into alot of times.
