5 out of 5 stars Breathtakingly, Jawdroppingly, Mindblowingly GREAT!.......2003-12-05

After listening to both of his albums, I have come to the conclusion that John Adorney is the most talented composer to ever walk the face of the Earth. I can't decide whether the title track, Beckoning, or Dance of the Moon and Stars is my favorite song of all time.

Soft, beautiful, soulful, restful, peaceful, soothing, gorgeous.

Some music you can listen to and grow tired of. Not this music.

True story: It's hard to find John Adorney's CDs in stores, so I ordered over the phone and made a special trip to Alabama to buy Beckoning. Loved it so much that within a couple of weeks, I drove back the buy The Other Shore. It was worth it!

I'd give this CD 7 stars if they'd let me. I sure hope JA comes out with more music in the future!

5 out of 5 stars Fabulous.......2003-05-03

I have all of John Adorney's albums and just found out recently that they are played literally all around the world. When you listen to this CD, you'll understand why. He is an accomplished musician who writes beautiful, intricate and melodic pieces that you listen to over and over again without getting tired of them. An absolute must for a New Age music fan.

5 out of 5 stars A momentary rave........2003-03-24

I absolutely LOVE this CD. Most of the time you buy a CD and one or two songs are "great" (probably the reason you bought the CD) a couple more are "OK" and the rest, well, they can't all be good can they?

Oh yes they can! John Adorney has put together a wonderful CD, that grabs you from the beginning and never lets go. This is a wonderful blend of melodic, accessible, mostly instrumental (very few vocal overlays) compositions.

The other amazing thing is that he plays most of the instruments, skillfully crafting each piece by overlaying the different musical tracks. What a gem! A lot of the New Age music I've heard has a tendency to kind of ramble and get caught up in itself. They get can get spacey and aimless, and quite frankly, start sounding too much the same after awhile.

Not so this CD. Mr. Adorney has composed 11 distinct "songs" with a beginning, hook, and (believe it or not) an ending! Wow, what a concept. Not only that, but this guy can get into a real groove, too. Some of the songs are in the 6 to 7 minute range, which allows him to really get into it, and he delivers...big time. Trust me...there is no weak song on this CD!

I first got turned on to John Adorneys' music when I got satellite TV and was listening to the New Age music channel. Since I have it on in the background, I usually don't pay that much attention, but whenever I hear something interesting, I'll look up to see who the artist is. I found myself looking up a lot and seeing that the reason why was because they were playing one of his compositions. His music sticks!

One more thing...I have lots of CD's. Most of them I'll listen to every once in awhile. Not this one. I listen to it all the time and, far from getting tired of it, it just gets better and better. Like a good movie that you can watch again and again and appreciate on a different level each time, this CD can be listened to again and again and still sound fresh.

OK. I'm done raving. Do yourself a favor and get this CD. You'll feel soooo much better!

5 out of 5 stars Puts you in a good mood!.......2003-03-01

I don't typically buy "new age" instrumental music, but I heard a track from this CD on a cross-country flight and decided I needed to buy it. It's great music that will definitely put you in a good mood. The compositions are creative and rhythmic, with different influences, from reggae to Latin. This CD will add to any collection. I highly recommend it.

Absolutely a superb sound. I heard a short clip of Celebration on NPR's Morning Edition while driving. I immediately took note of the story that followed because I knew that I had to find that music. From hearing only about 20 seconds of music, I purchased what is probably the best CD I've owned. Great to listen to while programming. You won't regret this purchase.
