Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Moon is Stellar.......2004-08-02

David Lanz is back in fine form with this first recording apart from the Narada label. We are treated to some of his finest work yet in the first two tracks "The Green Man" and "Dancing with Dionysos", both of which are brimming with joyous energy. "Chasing Aphrodite" seems a little misnamed, as this lovely waltz sounds like anything but a chase. The title track is a wonderfully mysterious piece. Unfortunately, after such a fantastic start, the rest of the album seems a bit of a letdown. Not to say that they're bad, just that they don't form the same kind of emotional connection that the first four tracks do. I was excited to see the "World at Peace" suite with orchestra, but to be honest, I think he did it better with his earlier "Skyline Firedance". I will admit that the gentle rocking sounds of "The Visitor" create a wonderful sense of peace to close out the CD.

All in all, with its variety of moods and instrumentation, this is a highly enjoyable listen.

5 out of 5 stars Beautifully Composed.......2004-02-18

This CD is beautifully composed and is music you can relax to. I would recommend this cd to all you hard working people who need something to help you relax after a long day.

4 out of 5 stars Interesting album.......2001-12-13

This is an interesting work of David's I enjoyed the first half, he seems to capture some of the magic that he has in his other albums but I am not sure about the second half. It lost me. So I have to give it a 4 star review.

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Extraordinary.......2001-09-18

David Lanz's East of the Moon is a phenomenal album with an incredible orchestra that gracefully flows with the melody of the piano. Every song on this album is worth your time. A great CD and a masterpiece from David - recommended to everybody! ~ Robbie Sterner

3 out of 5 stars Good Music, but the artist talks too much.......2000-10-18

The music on this CD IS very relaxing and has fun sound to it. But the artist ruins it by expressing his views on mythology and goes on and on about "world peace". That's fine for him, but I don't want to listen to his speeches, I just want the music! Other than that, this CD has beautiful music on it, my particular favorite is 'East of the Moon'. As good as the music is, I don't think I will be buying much music by this artist anymore.
