Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Millennium.......2007-02-15

This is an incredible CD. A must have for any Hans Zimmer or soundtrack
fan. Please listen to the sampler of all 18 tracks. Don't let the native
sounds turn you off. They only last an average of 30 seconds per track. The average track is only about three minutes long. Only track 1 is all chanting. What a shame that the last review was in September, 2002. I have had the CD for about one month and play it all the time and still think it is on a par with Zimmer's The Thin Red Line and Batman Begins sountracks.
If you still are skeptical go back and give the sampler one more try for
tracks 2,3,7,8,10,11,16,17,18,and 18. Tracks 3 and 17 rate up there with the masterpiece Journey to the Line on The Thin Red Line.
Buy this CD you will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful music to carry you to other worlds.......2002-09-26

This music is beautiful and inspiring. I once created a dance to one of the main themes of this score.

This music is the soundtrack to a TV series that aired on PBS in the early 1990s. The series was about the differences between modern lifestyles and "primitive" lifestyles of the tribal peoples from throughout the world, and how an exchange between the two might be mutually beneficial. So, naturally, the composer incorporates the sounds and effects of the different tribal peoples into this soundtrack, and some songs even include tribal chants and songs, which are very beautiful.

This music has a timeless and encompassing feel to it. Listening to it, it is possible to forget your time and place and slide away into some pocket of your mind that is not ruled by clocks or dates on the calendar.

4 out of 5 stars A excellent choice.......2001-07-06

One of Zimmer's great scores. I've never seen the documentary, but picked up the CD because of Zimmer did the music, and it will blow you away. The second cut on the CD (Stones For A Thousand Years) is just incredible. Get this CD, you won't be disappointed!

5 out of 5 stars Buy this CD!.......2001-02-06

If you like Hans Zimmer at all, buy this CD! Although I had never heard of the TV show that this was from, I randomly bought this guy - and totally loved it.

Very much in the same vein as The Lion King, although this came out first, so I guess you could say The Lion King is in the same vein as Millennium, but more people have heard The Lion King score so they might think that this is a rip off of that ... whatever - they're two peas in a pod. A nice pod. An excellent pod. Possibly Hans Zimmer's best ever.

It's only tainted by the lack of a full orchestra, as we're used to with these big movie scores. Computers and keyboards aside, this is still an amazing disc - one of my favorite. Hence, buy it.

5 out of 5 stars A must have Hans Zimmer album.......1999-11-13

I discovered Hans Zimmer excellent music with this album. It is for me one of the ultimate album of this composer and also an excellent buy.
