Customer Reviews:
Great.......2006-02-11
Beegie Adair is a great jazz pianist. As a listener of Erroll Garner, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, Gene Harris etc, I didnt know Beegie Adair. In fact, I discovered Adair because of the reviews of my Amazon friend Mr. Jim (J. Lovins).
I liked very much her interpretations of the standards.
Instead of writing more, I ask you to download the free Jingle Bells mp3 file and then say me if we are right or wrong.
Ah, listen also the the Christmas album by Carmen Cavallaro.(I have bought and reviewed this item too).
Just a really good jazz combo Christmas CD.......2005-12-11
I won't write a lengthy dissertation on this CD. Suffice it to say that if you're looking for a nice jazz CD to play in the background during the holidays or to listen to closely, this is a really good choice. Nothing to harsh or too mellow. Just the right upbeat tempo.
I stumbled upon this CD while search at amazon.com and consider this a lucky find.
"Beegie Adair & friends from Village Square ~ Christmas Jazz.......2004-11-19
Now under a new banner of Village Square Music, Beegie Adair continues to be the master of interpretation of the composers pen...her latest Christmas release "Christmas Jazz" is joined by Jack Jezzro [guitar], Dennis Solee [tenor sax], Sam Levine [soprano sax], George Tidwell [flugelhorn], Roger Spencer [bass] and Chris Brown [drums]...as they perform fifteen great Holiday standards and Christmas carols inclusive with light jazz arrangements...produced by Jack Jezzro, Brendan Harkin and Greg Howard with tender loving care...Beegie Adair celebrates the Holidays with her signature style we've come to love.
One can hardly pick a stand out, entire album draws on slow tempos with blends of original sentiment and gorgeous melodies...give a listen to the opening cue "LET IT SNOW! LET IT SNOW! LET IT SNOW!" and then "HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS", both songs have stood the test of time and will go on forever ~ "WINTER WONDERLAND", Jezzro and Beegie's performance on this track is simply crisp and delightful ~ "I'LL BE HOME FOR CHRISTMAS", all time favorite for many vocalist such as Johnny Mathis, Ella Fitzgerald and Perry Como, but this arrangement from Adair serves up a serenely unforgettable performance, completely gets under your skin and you're loving every minute of it.
This album plays like new fallen snow...flows very easily on the ears...once again Village Square comes through with a must have for all yuletide greeters and fans of Beegie. Arrangements take on many Holiday moods with the same sensitivity and tender care as her previous albums...just the way we like 'em!
