Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars SERIOUSLY funny!.......2005-08-08

I've just about worn out my cassette of this album and am about to invest in the CD version! Admittedly, this isn't humor for little folks, but for grown folks, this is a riot in the grand tradition of comedy jams and the like. IF you don't already have it, GET IT!

4 out of 5 stars Absolutely hilarious, but not perfect.......2003-08-12

SNAPS is one of the funniest comedy albums I think I've ever heard. I first purchased this album on the fly, and while driving home and listening to it I almost had to pull over at least half a dozen times because I was laughing so much. Since it's about 8 years old, the material isn't too fresh but it's still a riot to listen to.

Basically, the whole album is one huge snap-fest, featuring (among others) Coolio, Biz Markie, some dudes named Cortez, Talent and Faison (sp?) and at least one woman whose snaps are almost more vicious than anything the guys level at her or each other. The first track is an explanation of the various names for snapping and a breakdown of the rules, and then until the last track it's a free-for-all. The tracks are short but each one is jam-packed with great snaps. Here's a sample, one of my favorites from Coolio: "Your momma's so dirty, I put her in some sheets with some little white angels on 'em...she woke up the next morning and they were little black Muslims!" The snaps loosely follow the themes suggested by the track titles, although they do bounce around quite a bit. The last track has some funny stuff, but it's more of a blooper reel than anything.

Now, on to the one criticism that I have of the album. Up until the next-to-last track, it's obvious that everyone is having a blast doing the material, as there's almost as much time taken up by laughter as there is by snapping. The tracks sound completely un-choreographed, as if the performers just plopped down in the recording studio and went to town. However, the "Stoopid" track is, for the most part, just a bunch of random "yo ____'s so stupid, ..." snaps tacked together end-to-end with no laughter except at the very end of the track. This track feels like it was pieced together outside the recording booth from random snaps, and I think it really kills the momentum of the album, especially since the last track is a blooper track. It's not totally unfunny, but it is a bit of a bump in the road, so to speak.
Final verdict: Buy this album. Immediately.

5 out of 5 stars 1995 album and its 2002 go figure.......2002-01-10

Put it this way, I'm searching for this album on the net right now in 2002 cause I've heard it numerous times over the years. Some of the material is outdated. Even when it was 1995, but the deliveries make the old jokes still funny. This album is nonstop laughs. I found myself often rewindin cause i was laughing so hard I missed the next joke.. Basically its a group of people chilling and bagging on eachother and laughing .... Funny ish, if you read this review then your entitled to buy this album, or d/l. But trust me this is worth paying for, its funny as hell.

5 out of 5 stars Hilarious!.......2001-03-26
