Customer Reviews:

3 out of 5 stars just has not held up........2007-01-10

I adore Mr. Kinison but this album just has not held up. There are some very funny things on it, but overall it seems like an old dinosaur, just out of sinc with today's morals.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE THAT SAM.......2006-07-13

Sam Kinison was one of the greatest comedian's in the world,he lived a short life but left a long line of fan's!!

4 out of 5 stars Leader of the Banned.......2005-07-07

Classic Sam Kinison, with quick wit and a sharp toungue tempered by his trademark laugh Sam Kinison's over the top style is timeless, and still relevant in the new millenium.

5 out of 5 stars This Bill Hicks Fan Loves Kinison!.......2005-04-24

While I agree with the previous reviewer's assertion that Bill Hicks is unmatched as a social commentator and political comic, Sam Kinison really shouldn't be dismissed as a mere explosive, reactionary xenophobe, especially since Sam Kinison helped launch Bill Hicks' career. Both of them are wonderfully unique and equally brilliant comics in their own ways.

The thing about Sam Kinison is that he says what most Americans are too scared or too brainwashed to say, and he does it with unmatched stage presence and charisma. I feel excited just listening to this guy. He has a way with making massive crowds become just as amped up as they would be at a rock concert. Maybe the title of "Rock & Roll Comic" really does belong to Kinison, and that's definitely not an understatement.

In regard to this particular recording, I'd urge anybody with a sense of humor to check it out. I'm a Bill Hicks fan and I loved it. Give it a try. If you really have the kind of repressed angst that Kinison helps cleanse his listeners of, you'll appreciate every moment of it.

2 out of 5 stars offense without meaning.......2005-03-10

I bought this cd because Kinison was compared to my favorite comic, Bill Hicks. If you're a fan of Hicks STEER CLEAR of Kinison! If you're a fan of Kinison, PLEASE give Bill Hicks a try.

This is my contention with this CD. While draining the comedic value of being offensive, Kinison brings forward NO point; NO sublimation. It's not really even funny, unless you're a misogynistic gay basher. Or if you think bombing third world countries is not only a good idea, but a hilarious one. "Let's BBQ their f***ing kids!"

He doesn't try to understand the issues any more than your average beer-drinking rascist, sexist homophobe. He's just another dude telling F**got jokes.

And then there's a crippled guy he gets on stage. FINE. But it isn't funny just cause he's drinking and debunking Jerry Lewis...it's exploitative. Again, if he made some sort of point or message about it, it might be worthwhile.

If you want to hear irreverent comedy with a worthwhile, timeless message try "Philosophy: the Best of Bill Hicks." Or don't, if you can't fit it in between episodes of Bill O'Reilly.
