This concert recorded at the famed Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City is one of the best Lola Beltran performances I have ever heard. Some Opera fans might know this venue thanks to the famed recordings of Maria Callas' 1951 Aida. This wonderful recording includes a two disk set featuring Beltran singing boleros and rancheros that highlight Beltran's powerful and beautiful voice. Although it is live, the audience is quiet, and the recording is perfect. One minor complaint for the US market: There are no liner notes, and there should be.

THe entire CD is amazing!! Lola Beltrans fierce voice is felt deep in your heart, this woman sang from deep within her soul, Beltran remains one of the greatest Ranchera Singers to blessed us with her voice and mere presence.

Lola's passion is at her height, and is complimented by the extraordinary Mariachi and symphony accompanyment. This raw and "unrefined" live CD will seize your heart and have you, like the audience and her musicians, under Lola's spell forever. I'm getting goosebumps just thinking of it.

I love this album. I first heard it in Puerto Vallarta while hanging out around the swimming pool at a small hotel. Every day I had the pool to myself and the hotel bartender would play this album, while telling me about Lola Beltran. She is at her peak in this live concert in Mexico City. The concert is a mutual love affair between Lola and her audience. Lola Beltran makes even old standards like Cielito Lindo seem fresh and moving. After several years, this is still one of my favorite mariachi albums.
