One of the best flameco releases in the last 5 years.......2001-08-18

This the best recent flamenco release I have heard for a long time. Unlike many recent releases it's not submerged in bass, drums, and other instruments, nor does it stray from the traditional forms. Ortega's beautiful husky voice, Chiquelo's (sp?) strong, rasgueado-driven guitar, and palmas carry the album. The odd other instrument shows up (Carlos Benavent from Paco de Lucia's sextet on one track) but it's tastefully done. Absolutely top notch modern yet traditional flamenco.

All the individual factors of this CD add up to 5 STARS! Excellent flamenco guitar, great songs, and of course, Ginesa outstanding. When I first bought this CD I could not stop playing it for 2 weeks straight! It is a passionate and wonderful sample of "la musica de Andalucia"... and it is hard to imagine anyone attracted to flamenco not falling in love with this CD... Enjoy!
