Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Absolutely Beautiful.......2005-05-15

Mixing the sounds of Morrocco with their native flamenco harmonies, Papá Levante definitely does a great job "mezclando" the two. Their hit "Me Pongo Colorada" does a wonderful job taking exotic string sounds and Arabic beats to make a great song to dance to. I definitely recommend picking up this album because it is so original and unlike anything else that you will hear from Spain! (Also check out their second album "Sopla Levante" that has a new R&B sound to it, influenced by Jennifer Lopez.)

5 out of 5 stars Spanish Music Lover.......2002-06-29

I bought this CD in Granada, Spain, in July of 2001. I bought it because I had heard "Me Ponga Colorada" on the bus everyday and the lady at the CD store played several of the songs for me. I was instantly hooked. It's a mixture of Arabic, flamenco and modern pop sounds. The girls sing in unison in a Sevillana-like style, typical of Andalucia, where the girls grew up. It might sound strange to American ears at first, but once you're used to the style, you can really feel the depth of the music. I find the music and melodic lyrics captivating! I'm always looking for something different musically, and in the last 10 years have had to turn to other cultures to find creative music. This album is the girls' first effort, and in my opinion they are off to a terrific start!

5 out of 5 stars Great CD!.......2002-05-05

When you listen to this album, it will transport you back to Andalucia (southern spain). I studied abroad in Seville over a year ago and this band had just made thier debut and Me ponga colorada was heard EVERYWHERE! The CD has a great blend of flamenco, pop music and moroccan flavor that you won't find on any other spanish CD. I cannot wait for their next album.
