I was on vacation in Puerto Rico and the cover of this CD caught my eye. I purchased it on impulse and it became an instant favorite. It is still in my CD player in my car. Carolina has a powerful voice and interprets the lyrics with feeling. The songs have great production value and it is hard not to move your body to the driving beats. I became an instant fan of Carolina and you will too. Buy this CD!

Wow! This is what I have to say about Ms. Carolina Laó. Since I am a female myself, I have always been curious about female salseras since there are so few of them. Aside from acts like La India, Celia Cruz, and Brenda K. Starr, they are few and far between. So when I saw this disc I had to buy it even though I had never heard of her. On the rare occasion when I've found a salsera, the CD usually turns out to be mediocre at best. I find that with the females they tend to spent more time on the make-up and clothes than the actual quality of the CD. I also notice that the songs tend to be slowr and more delicate, which is a disappointment for the real rumberos out there.

I can tell you that this CD is far from disappointing, delicate, and breaks the mold of salsera clichés. The album starts off strong and ends strong. This Colombian salsera has contagious lyrics and rhythms. My favorites are 1# "Dulce Veneno", an uptempo salsa (she also has a ranchera and balada version), #3 "Sabe a Chocolate", a sweet, slow salsa, and #8 Quiero Perderme, a salsa with a great melody and a certain urgency to it. This album is great!

Tienes que probar el "Dulce Veneno" que trae Carolina Lao. Este disco sera sin duda una de las mejores producciones del 2001! Este CD es una produccion de Ramon Sanchez y Alejandro Jean para Warner Music (Wea Latina). Esta nueva produccion no se parece para nada a su aterior disco "El Son de Ahora", este trabajo contiene temas mas romanticos y sensuales que su primera produccion. "Dulce Veneno" se ha convertido en uno de mis CD's favoritos. El disco esta bueno de principio a fin y todos los temas son buenisimos pero los mejores son "Dime Que Si" (de Alejandro Jean y Jorge Luis Piloto en sus dos versiones salsa y pop), "Sabe A Chocolate" (de Eduardo Reyes y Alejandro Montalban), "Quiero Perderme" (de la propia Carolina Lao) y el mejor tema del disco el cual le da el titulo "Dulce Veneno" (de Alejandro Jean y Jose Luis Morin, en tres excelentes versiones: salsa, balada y ranchera). Este disco contiene salsa, boleros, ranchera, pop y balada, de todo para todos los gustos. Los arreglos de este disco fueron trabajados por Ramon Sanchez, Osvaldo Pichaco, Willie Sotelo, Gustavo Arenas, Milton Salcedo y Mike Rivera. A diferencia de su primera produccion la cual fue grabada totalmente en Colombia, este disco fue grabado la mayor parte en Puerto Rico y algunos tema en Miami. Carolina Lao se ha convertido en una de las mejores interpretes de salsa y tiene una voz y un estilo unico, ademas es una de las mujeres mas bellas y sensuales de mundo de la musica latina. Si te gusta este CD tienes que tener la primera produccion de Carolina Lao titulada "El Son de Ahora" la cual tambien esta excelente. Tambien recomiendo los siguientes CD's: "Pasional" de Jessica Cristina, "Subele El Volumen" de Michael Stuart, "Prohibido" de Saned, "La Reina Del Sabor" de Choco Orta y "Jerry Rivera" de Jerry Rivera.
