Customer Reviews:
Heavenly Guitar.......2004-05-12
On this album, Dominic Miller displays his amazingly beautiful instrumental guitar music. His emotive and dexterous talent on the guitar deserved to be promoted to solo work, although I also love when he accompanies Sting. I highly recommend First Touch.
Outstanding !!.......2001-07-03
After purchasing Dominic Miller's Second Nature, I knew that I could not be without First Touch. This CD is another brilliant display of talent from Dominic. Dominic has that exceptional way of reaching down deep into your soul with his style of music & his sheer, unrelenting talent. Although all tracks on this CD are fabulous, I must comment on the 2nd track, "Do You Want Me." This is a moving, sexy arrangement which holds me captive every single time I listen. (Which is pretty much every day!) There are no proper words to describe how much I enjoy Dominic's music. I will anxiously await CD #3!!
Dominic Miller's Fantastic "First Touch".......2000-02-08
Although Dominic Miller has been around for quite some time performing with a variety of musicians, this is his first entire album with just his music. It is wonderful. He said in an interview that a lot of people say his music is great to "chill out" to and it is. This music is very soothing and also very moving. Perhaps partly due to the fact that it is mostly (maybe completely) instrumental. If you are looking for the rock star that's been at Sting's right for the last decade, you will not find him on this album. Mr. Miller's "First Touch" is very different from what I initially expected, nonetheless it is fascinating and highly enjoyable. The songs may all sound similar the first time through, but each song has it's own story and it's own personality. It is truly extraordinary to hear the talents of this amazing musician.
lovely debut..........1999-12-08
"First Touch" is a wonderful debut album from Dominic Miller. However, it's a bit misleading to group this CD with Sting and Sarah McLachlan; sure, Miller is Sting's guitarist, but there is nothing even remotely like Sting here. It would be better to group this with the likes of Ottmar Liebert or maybe even Santana.
Miller's music is intensely intimate and soothing, and it reminds me why I fell in love with acoustical guitar in the first place.
Superb!! Intimist. This First Touch is really touching..........1999-01-13
We had the pleasure of listening to Miller's music through Sting, and we know that "The Shape of My Heart" was written by Sting AND by Miller. Now you can listen to this first Miller's album all by himself, and get in touch with this guitarist and all of his depth feelings and, of course, his outstanding skills. I think that the album is too short (less than 40 minutes) and it leaves you with the feeling that you want to listen for more. If you like acoustic guitar you can't miss this one. Anyway, I'm looking forward for the Second Touch...
