Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Very good Brazilian Jazz !!!.......2002-05-09

Cafe Jam is a very well versed and skilled Jazz group, interpreting their songs within their technique and repertoire. There are two songs that are absolutely knock-outs; Moio and Cafe Jam. I think this is a great debut for this group and I think they'll come back with new and fresh material. I cannot close this review without disagreeing with the previous reviewer; there is always a specific item for each need and taste; if he wanted more rhythmic Brazilian Jazz he could have tried Azymuth or Kabbalah or even Ed Motta. If he wanted hot latin stuff he could have tried Tito Puente or Arturo Sandoval or even Irakere.
I think this group and some other fascinating Brazilian Jazz groups like UZ22, Xekere or Cama de Gato wouldn't ask Spyro Gyra or The Yellow Jackets for a thing.

2 out of 5 stars Mediocre tunes with few musical highlights!.......2001-07-07

Good musicians playing watered down Spyro Gyra/Yellow Jackets. They are the most expressive/comfortable playing the latin stuff, which there was not enough of.

4 out of 5 stars Brazilians sometimes do the right thing.......2000-03-22

Moio is an interesting album. Pedra Grande, for me, is the best track. It could be a soundtrack for a short movie. I have listened many times.
