Awesome.......2002-06-23
Paul Taylor is awesome! I first heard Erotica on the radio and went out and bought On The Horn that same day.
I've been a fan ever since and now have all his cd's! He has a distinctive quality with the sax and he has a
good voice too! His songs are sensual and some have a funky rhythm. He's awesome!
Great sax player.......2002-04-04
This album is certainly his best work! I love this one and I also like his other CD's. Exotica and 'Til we meet again are my favorite songs in this CD. I can listen it again and again and never get tired of it. Check it out and you will like it too. Strongly recommended.
Inner Fire.......2001-11-05
I came to buy this album after it appeared in my recommendation list from Amazon. I'm a great fan of Richard Elliot and I found this album very reminiscent of his work. In places this album is a little more laid back than Richard's work but nonetheless very enjoyable. Comparisons aside I did feel Paul's performance had little nuances all of his own. Of course Paul has also been blessed with the talent of being able to add his voice to one of the tracks of the album and I'm trying to resist my antipathy of vocals when I say that I feel "I Want Your Love" doesn't, for me, quite fit in with the style of the album. It's a well produced track but seems like something more at home in the East Listening section of the record store. I wish these artists would stick to music, the vocals always seem to smother the reason we came to buy the album in the first place - talented playing. Having said that though I feel the mark of a good album is when its still playing in your head long after the cd has ended and Paul's playing certainly does that. It seems to have a inner fire that burns a mark on your soul - its what good jazz is all about! I really wish they wouldn't categorise these artists into the smooth jazz category, it seems to do them such an injustice when they have produced a work with such spirited playing. Irrespective of general taste, if your passionate about good sax playing you'll love this album. And yup Exoctica is definitely a goodie !!!
EXCELLENT RECEPTION MUSIC!.......2000-07-22
This CD is absolutely wonderful for a Wedding Reception! The jazz music has an uplifting beat that people of all ages will enjoy! "Exotica" was our favorite!
