Hal Smith's jazz combos REALLY swing!.......2000-10-10

Hal Smith, a swing era style drummer, leads many small jazz combos for traditional jazz festivals. Smith's groups always sound straight out of the late 30's, early 40's. They keep 30's/40's small group swing alive, if you like John Kirby's sextet, you'll really enjoy Hal Smith. Also Rebecca Kilgore, who has the chrystal clarity and diction of Rosemary Clooney, yet the hard swinging voice of Maxine Sullivan, has actually a warm swinging style of her own. Kilgore is featured on several trackes here in this exellent CD. Also try Concentaratin' On Fats, also with Kilgore. Then go see them perform at the next Dixieland festival that comes through you're area, they usually perform under the name of The Roadrunner's.
