Electric KoolAid in August.......2000-04-01
Forget the tired comparisons of violinists gone by, Chris Howes is creating his own mold. Simultaneously reviving the lost art of jazz violin and burning a path few have ever see with this instrument, Mr. Howes has shown us the light and it is called Ten Yard. Think of this album as the license to what appears to be an extremely exahilarating career. As evident in D.D. Jackson's new album, Anthem, there is no slowing down for young Christian and all we can do is put on our seatbelts and pray that the ride lasts for a long time. This album will awaken your senses to what is truly out there in modern jazz and leave you hungry for more. Wake up and check out this album!

The best jazz violinist anywhere.......2000-02-08
Christian Howes' interpretation is brilliant, mystifying, and inspiring. You will be drawn again and again to this c.d., to his powerful riffs, superb compositions, and ever-growing style. You will not be diappointed!
sophistocated jazz with a twist.......1999-08-09
listenable without being easy; the pieces are intelligent, sophistocated. Quite a wonderful first album; can't wait for the second.
If you love jazz violin, this is for you!.......1999-05-14
This is a great album. Christian Howes shows a wide range of styles and unbelievable expressiveness. I was never a big jazz violin fan before I heard this album, but it really changed my mind. At times the music is very calm and contemplative. At other times it is down right raucous. Really this is a stellar album.
