5 out of 5 stars well worth waiting for.......1999-10-09

Tom's musicianship is unsurpassed. What a treat to hear one of the industry's most sought after session players out on his own...and doing what he does best. Surrounded by some of the hottest players in the biz, Tom's music is fresh and alive. I can only hope it gets the play it deserves ... well done Tom!

5 out of 5 stars What a "boss" showcase of a multi-talented God-gifted musici.......1999-05-21

Tom, I realize this is a late review even when you sent me an e-mail and requested that I go and leave you some feedback at Amazon.com.It was a year ago when I was looking for the disc. I was awed at your versatility. God has blessed your life my friend. This disc is funky and expertly produced. You have assembled a group of great musicians. I am partial to Gary Grant(being a trumpeter and all). ..and Steve Madaio...wow! Those guys smoke!! I am looking forward to your next effort. O hope one day to hear you again.. live!!! Don't leave us faithful hangin' out here in anticipation...lol. Thanks for the tunes man!

5 out of 5 stars You must hear this!.......1998-11-11

An impressive resume working with the best doesn't always result in one's ability to make a solo sterling effort, but here it is! Pick your favorite musical style, and this guy can do it. Once you enjoy the tunes on this CD (and you WILL), make sure you check out Tom's other work with the Sons of Champlin and a million other artists. Truly a gem that few have discovered, be one of the first! Then later tell your friends "I told you so!"

5 out of 5 stars Surprising, innovative, a treat for the ears!!!.......1998-11-10

I first heard Tom's superb playing on Bill Champlin's CD's "Mayday" and "Through It All" and then "Sons of Champlin Live". I knew he was one heck of a great saxaphonist. However, I really didn't know what to expect when I picked up "Making Up Lost Time". One listen and I was hooked! This CD is fresh and alive, running the gamut from funky to touching, sassy to sweet, and everything in between. Tom shows that his composition and arrangement skills are every bit as good as his musicianship. My favorite cuts are "JP's Groove", "We've Got To Try", and "I Can't Let Go", but every one is a winner. I am definitely impressed! Do yourself a favor and buy this CD. I'm sure you'll agree, it's a keeper.

3 out of 5 stars I thought is was pretty good, but!.......1998-09-25

This is pretty good CD and worth the price. As far as musicians on it, Tom picked a great bunch of LA guys to perform on a few songs. I am not one for drum machines and a lot of keyboards, but the tracks with real musicians kick and Tom sure can play that Sax. I have seen Tom play around in San Diego a few times over the past year and he is a good player, If you get a chance go seem him and you'll get a better vibe from his live playing then that on the CD. If you are into new artists I would think about getting this CD. If you want it for the fact that he has some of LA's top musicians on it, then get it now! Can't wait for the next CD, I wonder if it will have some life that this one is missing.
