it is so real........2004-08-04

I first heard the number 9 "So Real" when I bought my Sony SACD
player. It was one of the song included in a sample SACD.
The recording and the performance blowed me away. At first I
thought it was the SACD that did it. Later I found the CD
sounds equally impressive. The sound image was so clear you
can track where the drumsticks were hitting. The developement
of the song was good, remind me of Bill Evens and Keith
Jarrett.

Other pieces in the album seemed weaker to me. Some familiar
tunes are there such as Barbra Streisand's Somewhere was among
them. Most are pleasant to listen to but it seems the
derivation can be futher developed.

Overall speaking it was enjoyable, can be better, so I
think a 4 star rating is fair.
