Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Lovely!! Simply Lovely!!.......2001-08-31

What music! This will take you back to the era of black and white old movies. You can't help but feel like swooning or dancing while listening. There was a time that this music seemed old-fashioned but now I realize that these are the true classics. Enjoy listening...it's a real treat!!

5 out of 5 stars The Real Thing.......2001-07-07

I bought this as part of a compendium CD I was making for my mom's memorial service. Other music I had from the 30's left my 80-year-old uncle untouched but this and a CD of Carroll Gibbons and the Savoy Orpheans reduced him to tears many, many times. His response? It's the real stuff, played the way it was, yet remastered so that it sounds current (not old and scratchy). It took him back the way nothing else had. My (45-year-old) husband also enjoyed it (?! a shocker -- he's the one who keeps ordering The Who and Them and stuff on my Amazon account!?) He thought we should play it throughout the reception and forget all the more modern music she liked. Bottom line: we'll be playing this CD for years to come, despite it's original "one time" purchase.
