Customer Reviews:
He gotz da funk!.......2003-06-21
Dean Brown is a great musician who most don't know his name, but have heard him. Just check out the huge list of who's-who's in the Jazz and Funk world who play on the CD. You don't get people like that on your CD unless you're great yourself. Everytime I play this CD for someone they end up going out and getting their own copy. If you love funky jazz you will love this CD.

Great Blues-funk-jazz.......2001-11-21
Dean Brown is an extremely versatile player that -finally- has chosen to step out front with his first solo CD. He shows mastery of a wide variety of styles, but always with a soulful approach. Dean chose to demonstrate his composition prowess rather than focus on his chops, resulting in a sophisticated recording that still has energy. The instrumental tracks are stronger than the two vocal tracks, in my opinion. The final track, a tribute to Jaco, is fantastic.
I agree !.......2001-09-20
Maribeth from Arizona is right on target with her review. I couldn't have said it any better!!
WOW!!.......2001-09-19
"Here" by Dean Brown is a marvelous mixture of ALL the delicious elements of "fusion"......equal-parts jazz, funk, & rock, this debut CD by one of jazz's most-dedicated & sought-after side-men is a gr8 listen...many times over!!..........and, with an incredible supporting cast of players (i.e.: George Duke, Billy Cobham, Marcus Miller, the Brecker Bros, David Sanborn, Bob James
& numerous other veteran musicians...), this CD can't be beat!..It really ought to be considered as one of the years' best new releases.........let's hope for more magic from Dean soon!
