Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Trouble In Mind.......2002-12-19

If you want to know why the electric guitar was invented, all you need do is listen to "Trouble In Mind." Les is just perfect. Mary Ford's vocals on this song may be her best ever.

5 out of 5 stars An interesting twofer of Les and Mary's music.......2002-09-07

This twofer is another odd pairing from Collectables, but it's all very enjoyable so, although I would have not put these two together, I'm just thankful that they are all available on CD.

The first album, Warm and wonderful, is mostly made up of covers of classic songs, alternating instrumental tracks with vocal tracks. As much as I enjoy the instrumentals, I prefer the songs where Mary's sweet country voice takes over. One of these, Come back to me, is an orginal song which they co-wrote with each other. Of course, the title Come back to me is not unique - do not confuse the Les and Mary song with any other song of the same title. Mary is also in fine voice on Deed I do, A cottage for sale, It's been a long log time, Am I blue and Wrap your troubles in dreams. The remainig tracks allow Les to show his mastery of the guitar, for which he is legendary.

The second album, Swingin' south, is a country album recorded in Nashville. It features several songs written by Les, but there are covers here too, the most famous being Your cheating heart, a Hank Williams classic. On this album, Mary sings throughout. The album is slightly more energetic than Warm and wonderful, but only slightly. It's not a swinging album desptite it's title.

This is a very relaxing twofer by a couple who made some enjoyable music.
