Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Great band, great playing.......2006-01-08

Another great album in the R&B/jazz-funk style. Amazing solos. (I liked the tunes in Soul Insider a little better.)

5 out of 5 stars Bill Evans The SAX Man!.......2004-03-15

I haven't even listened to this album but I know that this is NOT an album recorded in 2003 by the fantastic jazz pianist Bill Evans who passed on back around 1980.

Sorry - I had to rate this album in order to post this correction.

5 out of 5 stars a solid and, well, fun disc.......2003-05-21

"Big Fun" is a soulful, interesting recording. Bill Evans taps into the talents of many of his associates from his Miles days and more recent adventures to produce a funky, swinging album. The three tracks with vocals work well (yes, even the Willie Nelson track). The instrumentals groove along nicely. Excellent sounding recording too. Highly recommended.

4 out of 5 stars Great follow-up to Soul Insider.......2003-02-25

Big Fun is a good name! This disc is a lot of fun! It's an excellent follow-up to Soul Insider. My only complaint is that it sounds just a little too much like a studio album (which it is). The sound is almost too polished and too clean; I prefer jazz that sounds more like a live performance. Still, it's aminor complaint. Evans writes most of his own stuff, and he writes with a lot of energy and a healthy dose of funk. I'll be looking forward to his next album.
