Customer Reviews:
one of the best female voices.......2003-03-02
I saw Debbie Duncan for the first time in a small cozy bar in the twin cities, I had just arrived from Brasil and it was snowing like crazy outside. She was wonderful. Her voice is so powerful, her lyrics so magic that I'll never forget that night ever.
After the show, I went to her and asked where could I find her album, and the next day there I was in a cab going to the cd store.
"I gotta be me" is my favorite song, and she does a great version of "la mer" and "sisters". The whole album is worth 1000 stars.
She should be recording more.
Jazz the way it is suppose to be.......2002-04-03
I cannot imagine not having this album in my collection. Debbie is a local artist in Minneapolis and is a wonderful musician. After I turned a law professor of mine on the "The Song Lives On" by Joe Sample and Lalah Hathaway, he returned the favor by giving me a copy of this album and it has been in heavy rotation in my household every since. Her voice is so clear and the material is absolutely flawless. If you enjoy Jazz with emotion (i.e. not Kenny G or Dianna Krall) then you will love this album.
