Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Rush to get this one.......2002-11-27

Lalo Schifrin has done it again. His trademark urban funk rhythms and orchestral passages, along with Chinese melodies are present here that give the score a great rating. "Main Title" kicks off the score in a great fashion with heavy drum pads, driving brass, throbbing electric guitars, and pounding synth loops. The theme is quoted in a few other tracks and in full form in "Lee Arrives In L.A." and "End Titles". The action music is dynamite and is featured in "Jumping The Bus", "Battle At Juntao's", "Chasing Sang", and "On Juntao's Heels", among others. The action music is complete with driving brass, synths, and percussion. In addition to the main theme, another theme is featured in "Soo Yung's Theme", which is a delicate little theme played on strings that sounds excellent. A few Chinese inspired cues are also present and are cleverly put in to the score such as "Won Ton For Two", "Greasy Egg Rolls", and "Sweet And Sour". I'm glad that Schifrin's own record label Aleph is coming out with his scores of new and old. This one is difficult to find, but if you find it, by all means get it!

5 out of 5 stars Very Good.......2001-06-12

I bought the soundtrack for Rush Hour after I saw the movie, because I wanted to hear the Chinese and American songs on it. I was not disappointed in the least. The CD perfectly mixes a couple kinds of music, al the while keeping in the style of the film. If you haven't seen the movie, I would suggest you do. Even if you don't, you will enjoy the soundtrack. It is a great CD, and it is one of my all-time favorites. Go Schifrin!

5 out of 5 stars A great blend of hip-hop and R&B.......2001-01-15

This CD is a great blend of hip-hop and r&b songs! Don't let the fact that its a film soundtrack bother you, because it is a great all-around CD. It features a few very good, catchy songs, but generally it is even all around. Nothing very special, but it's a great for listening all the way through. I especially liked the terrorsquad song because the lyrics were great, and it had the coolest chorus.

5 out of 5 stars INSPIRED junk is junky, thank god people care for REAL Music..........1998-11-07

I was so glad to see that Rush Hour (number 5 on my top 5 faves) released a Musical Score soundtrack. I was mad when I saw the INSPIRED BY cd from Def Jam Records. All tracks (on the SCORE cd) are great. They capture the style of former Mission: Impossible composer Lalo Schifren. (Sorry if I spelled it wrong) Rush Hour is a great movie and it's about time someone releases a great soundtrack to accompany it. - SK
