Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Hybrid Gypsy jazz.......2005-02-21

Pearl Django brings a unique polish and sweetness to the idiom that makes it inviting whether the listener is a new or an established gypsy jazz fan. Technique and presentation is precise and smooth, yet with a feeling of swing. Good listening.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome!.......2004-03-11

I've been a Pearl Django fan for a couple of years now and this album does not disappoint! If you liked Avalon and Under Paris Skies, you'll love Swing 48. The playing is wonderful and I especially liked that they included Sweet Sue and Crepuscule! The Hot Club standards are played with a lot of swing and the originals sound great! Buy this album today and enjoy! :)

4 out of 5 stars Great music, great sound quality,.......2004-02-23

Pearl Django has been developing their sound for almost 10 years and it shows. Acoustic instrumental jazz in the tradition of Django Reinhardt. They play together very tightly, and while there are no sharp edges to their music, it is very lively and upbeat. If you like John Pizzarelli, (as well as Bucky Pizzarelli and Johnny Frigo) -- or Stephane Grapellie and Claude Bolling (whom I like a little less) you'll probably love this. The sound quality of Swing 48 is also terrific. I saw them live at the Jazz Alley in Seattle and bought the CD at the show. The sound on the disc is really better than live -- warm, natural, and exciting.
