Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Strong Edition in Affordable Latin Jazz Series.......2005-10-11

Another good effort from Concord to compile some nice latin jazz sounds. Lots of Covers here, starting with the opener "One Mint Julep" which features Ray Charles backing Poncho Sanchez. Good. Poncho also contributes the Eddie Harris covers of "Listen Here/Cold Duck Time". Mongo Santamaria does a great cover of the Beatles "Day Tripper" and Tito Puente does yet another version of his classic "Oye Como Va". To hear such legends do takes on such legendary songs is worth the purchase alone. But my favorite tracks are numbers 6 and 7 with Latin Jazz kings Eddie Palmieri and Ray Barretto putting in some high quality work. What more can a jazz afficianado ask for?
