Customer Reviews:
I love it!!.......2002-10-06
This is one of my favourite CD's!! The only song by Moe Koffman I had heard before I got this CD was the "Swingin' Shepherd Blues," so I decided to see what some of his other music was like. The more I listened to this CD, the more I liked it. A lot of the songs on this album are a mix of classical and jazz. The first song, "Jazz Etude," starts off with fast passages played on flute. Then it switches to a swing beat. The second song, "Spring Nocturne," is based on the chords of one of Chopin's preludes, but it is jazzed up! Moe Koffman plays the alto sax on this one. And Doug Riley plays an awesome piano solo! "Spring Nocturne" is one of my favourites. Another one of my favourites is track 6, "For Jezz." It is a slow tempo blues tune. It's the only song on the album where Koffman plays the clarinet. I also like "A Flower For Amadeus," another flute piece with a mix of classical and jazz.
This is a great jazz album that everyone should take a listen to!
