Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Romance In It's Purest Form.......2005-12-04

Inter Alia is one of the most romantic cd's Marcus has produced second only to "Lessons In Love" which is his first baby. Fireplace and candlelights is all you need to complete the sound. I ditto what "Fantastic Listener" wrote it is time for Marcus Johnson to get his just due!!

4 out of 5 stars Marcus Does Okay, But Bryant Roberts Is The Star!.......2002-03-04

This CD has a jazzy, mellow flow that is a definite must have in your collection. And while each track has some great qualities, track 11 "When I Look Into Your Eyes" is by far The BEST thing this CD has going for it. If you just play that one song over and over again, it will be worth the price.

The song was written by Bryant "Lou" Roberts, a local artist in the Washington, DC area. And Bryant sings lead and background vocals on this track. Imagine if Luther Van Dross and Marvin Gaye had a son. That's Bryant. I was totally engaged in the smoothness of his vocals, the powerful love and strength he pours over you in this song and the words which melt your heart and make you long to have someone in your life who feels that way about you. I was so moved by this song that I went to hear Mr. Roberts sing at a local club. He was absolutely incredible!

I highly recommend getting Inter Alia by The Marcus Johnson Project mainly because of Bryant "Lou" Roberts' vocals on "When I Look Into Your Eyes". That song gets 10 STARS from me. And the overall CD gets 4.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Listening.......2002-01-23

Marcus Johnson showed [it all] on this CD. He is so talented it's sick. I highly recommend this album if you just wanna chill by a fireplace with some wine and your sweetheart... That's how good the love songs are on this album. When Marcus will get his due? I have no idea but it's long overdue. He deserves respect for his talent and his taste in music.

5 out of 5 stars Clarification.......2001-07-18

Hi all. This is Marcus Johnson and I had to give some clarification to one of the above reviews. It is a common misconception that Inter Alia was released after Chocolate City Groovin. Actuatlly, Inter Alia was originally released on the Marimelj Label almost one year before N2K release Chocolate City Groovin with the same tracks. Once N2K was sold we had the ability to re-release the original version of the CD, which actually has more tracks than Chocolate City Groovin. Many people say that it has a much better feel.

Therefore, there is no lack of new material, and by God's grace there never will be. I would recommend that you check this CD out first and have the true Marcus Johnson expericence.

4 out of 5 stars A very mixed bag!.......2001-05-13

Recorded in four different locations this album captures a wide range of styles from Marcus Johnson. The best cuts are the slower tracks, particularly "Love talks and slow jams" and both versions of "Morning Light".The bonus tracks (10 to 12) are significant remixes of tracks included in the main body of the CD, and I prefer the remix of "Wont you let me love you" to the other version.Quite why there's another version of "Chocolate City Groovin'" is difficult to fathom, unless Johnson had too little material recorded for a complete album. Of the up tempo tracks "The Neck Factor" and "Doc's Groove" are the pick. This is a highly listenable smooth jazz album, though "Chocolate City Groovin"" might be a better place to start your Marcus Johnson CD collection.
