classic organ jazz.......1999-11-19

like so many organ players richard is unique just as jimmy smith, these guys have so much feeling in their music.

I admit that there's a lot of sentimentality in my five-star rating, but this is still a favorite of mine over thirty years later.

Groove's first two albums on Prestige, "Soul Message" and "Living Soul", were both better than this, but both had a Jimmy Smith trio sound to them.

Groove experimented with a new sound on this album, featuring staccato locked chords and cascading minor riffs.

Too hard core for the casual funk fan, this is straight ahead jazz on standards of the day.
