5 out of 5 stars You cannot go wrong with smooth like buttah.......2000-05-26

Andy Snitzer has an amazingly unique sound that is also an amalgalm of other major saxophonists, including Sanborn and numerous others. But the true standout of this wonderful premiere work is the quality and nature of Snitzer's compositions (all written by him except one). Here is a great man who understands the human heart, the range of human joy to deep, sustained grief. His knows much about each of us, as human beings. I am particularly excited by his excellent first cut, "A River's Road," followed by the mesmerizing "Trance" and -- perhaps most of all -- the song titled "Remembrance." The final cut, "Mourning," is beautiful and engaging while avoiding any kind of morbidity; it IS beautiful saxophone. May I say, it helps enormously to have the work of trumpetist Chris Botti also on this recording. Tear me apart! In an era when saxophonists have proliferated, here is a man (and an album) that will Last. And Last.
