5 out of 5 stars Discover this Secret... He's great!.......2007-03-16

I really think this guy is great. Apparently so did downbeat magazine. Get this CD! -- Down Beat (10/95, pp.45-46) - 4.5 Stars - Very Good/Excellent - "SECRETS belongs to a small, specified jazz genre: the piano trio minimally augmented by horn and string ensemble....Bob Belden's arrangements frame the trio with elegant openings and closings, and also create subtle shadings and transitions within the body of each song..."
Personnel: Joey Calderazzo (piano); Tim Ries (soprano saxophone, flute); Charlie Pillow (tenor saxophone, English horn, bass clarinet); Tim Hagans (trumpet, flugelhorn); Earl McIntyre (bass trombone, tuba); John Clark (French horn); Tomas Ulrich (cello); Fareed Haque (guitar); James Genus (bass); Clarence Penn (drums). Recorded at Systems Two, Brooklyn, New York on January 26-27 1995. Includes liner notes by Bill Kohlhaase. All songs written by Joey Calderazzo except "Scriabin" (Vince Mendoza) and "Filles De Kilimanjaro" (Miles Davis).

3 out of 5 stars No Secrets Here.......2001-04-24

When I first heard Joey playing on Michael Breckers "Tales from the Hudson", I had to check out his solo recordings. Unfortunately I was dissappointed. The entire album is filled with watered down compositions , on "Filles De Kilimanjaro" Joey lack the creative spark needed to drive the Miles Davis classic. Although he rarely gives the music a lift, It still was a good effort from a great sideman. Check out Michael Breckers "Tales from the Hudson"
