Customer Reviews:
The Island.......2007-01-23
Okay, it's obvious this is a great album but I'm just writing to say that "The Island" is the sexiest song on this album or almost anywhere. Listen to the sample... the lyrics are by Alan and Marilyn Bergman. They are two of the best songwriters in the 20th century and possibly 21st.
No other version of "The Island" was a sexy as Patti's in my opinion.

Quincy and Patty work magic in this stellar musical treasure.......2006-11-20
It's clear to see that Quincy produced this. It's a crystal clear, seemingly perfect mix of R&B/Dance/Rock, made all the more perfect by Austin's gorgeous singing, Jones' stellar musicians, and Bruce Swedien's masterful engineering. Each song is unique in its own way; it's one of those CDs that is such a treasure that one can't believe it's finished so soon. No doubt, once it does finish, you'll play it again.
Almost flawless.......2006-09-04
I lucked upon this one in a thrift shop. I wasn't even sure whether I wanted it, because it only had one song I ever heard of "Baby Come to Me." Well, I put this baby in the CD and fell in love with almost every song. "Love Me to Death" is a spunky disco number, as is "The Genie" and "Do You Love Me." And then there are the jazzy ballads like "Way I feel" and the Motown standard "Stop Look Listen." Some clunkers--you'll be saying Oh no to "Oh no Margarita", but almost flawless overall. I can't believe this is going for almost 40 dollars. Guess they out of printed this one after the best of came out. Shame. It's a great CD. Patti's voice, plus Rod Temperton's lyrics, and quincy jones production is a can't miss. And even the liner notes are funny (she asks men to send her money for an autographed picture!)
Best Patti.......2006-04-06
This is by far the best Patti Austin CD out there. There are a lot of really great songs on other albums but this one has all of the songs as winners.
Best bet: "Do You Love Me"
Every Home Should Have One..........2005-10-21
Ms. Austin starts by singing "Do you love me?" and takes it from there! This is a good album that I can play over and over again. Though she is primarily a jazz singer, her ability to perform Pop and R&B tunes shines here. My favorites, "Do you Love Me" and "Every Home should have one." I agree! Every home should have Patti Austin! Four stars!!
