The clarinet is an instrument that is played by too few contemporary jazz artists. Perhaps in part because it is arguably a more technically challenging instrument to play than the saxhophone as well as the fact that it has suffered from the stigma of association with the sound of big band music, not to mention ersatz "Dixieland" music. Eddie Daniels has done a great job in reintroducing the clarinet to the jazz world. His technique is non pareil. This cd is deserving of multiple playings and will continue to yield new pleaures to the discerning as well as casual listener.

I met Eddie on a recent trip to Santa Fe, NM. Not knowing who he was, I asked him what he did for a living, and he told me he played the clarinet. When I prodded him furhter he told me he had several albums out, and if I wanted the best sample of his work, I should listen to Beautiful Love. Sit back, light a candle, and let the warmth and beauty of this incredible music wash over your heart and soul.
