4 out of 5 stars Swing to the Max!.......2003-05-28

Yeah, it would have been cool to start this disc with "Conan's theme", but what can you do. This isn't actually my kind of music, but if you're into big band and swing, there's no denying that these guys are excellent musicians. Also a generous 17 tracks. So if you dig "Brian Setzer Orchestra" and that whole sound, you'll love this. Just too bad they didn't do a song with "Triumph".

5 out of 5 stars Thank God For The M>W 7.......2003-03-29

I watch all the late night shows but nothing makes my day more than when I hear Max and his band on Conan.I can't think of any other band that does the kind of thing that they do that has inspired me to see if they have a cd or not. This is what I expected, fantastic jump blues making me smile from ear to ear at 2 am in the morning as I search the internet looking for the sound of musical joy.I survived the 90's and all that depression and Thank God for the Max Weinberg 7 and the happiness they make people feel when they play. It's just a shame they are not the special guests on Conans show so the home viewers can hear more of them.

4 out of 5 stars Solid Music From A Solid Band.......2002-11-28

I'm a huge Conan O'Brien fan, and I think that The Max Weinberg 7 are a tremendous complement to the show, so I was extremely excited to get this CD when it first came out. These guys are good at what they do, and I love it when they take part in one of the skits on Conan's show, but this CD is the first time I've listened to their music without the spectacle of the show. This was my first exposure to The Max Weinberg 7 as pure musicians, and I have to admit that I was tremendously impressed.

This is an excellent CD, especially if you're in your car on a long drive as I was when I listened to it. Their 1950s sound is sure to keep your toes tapping and your head bobbing. This album is an hour of pure entertainment. The only flaw I could find in this album was that all the songs sounded very similar to each other. While all the songs are pretty good, but the listener's enjoyment of the last track on the CD won't be as high as that of the first track, simply because it all sounds the same after a while.

The bottom line is that those who watch Late Nite with Conan O'Brien or are familiar with Max Weinberg being the drummer for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band are sure to love this CD. Those who don't know the band are probably going to love it, too. I recommend this album.

5 out of 5 stars Jumping.......2001-08-30

If you like up-beat, big band stuff, you'll like this. Max is a great drummer and is surrounded by other great musicians. You can tell they love what they are doing and aren't doing it to make money or be trendy. This cd "moves" from begining to end and will make you want to go back in time when all music was this good.

4 out of 5 stars Swingin' Boogie Woogie!.......2001-06-04

It's not my type of music but for what it is it's pretty darn good. The Late Night Band takes a page out of the books of the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, the Cherry Poppin' Daddies and the Squirrel Nut Zippers with it's mix of Boogie Woogie and Swing sounds from the 50's. The band, which traditionally focuses on more of a jazz beat demonstrates its versatility with this release. The bands ability to replicate the sound of this era is uncanny.

If you like to swing, this CD is for you!
