Buy the DualDisc or wait for the "clean" CD.......2005-11-18

I bought this on DualDisc. It does not have the XCP rootkit software that Sony is now infamous for. Do not buy the XCP protected CD version (it has been recalled anyway).

Jane's music is great. Sony's ethics-not so much.

Whatever happened to the Sony that fought copy restriction all the way to the Supreme Court when the VCR was invented?

The disc itself is very good, [...] The CD includes content protection that includes XCP software that can mess up your computer. Sony is recalling all the discs with this XCP-copy protection system and supposedly will replace them free of charge with another disc without the content protection. Go to http://cp.sonybmg.com/xcp/english/faq.html to find out about this and for a list of other Sony CDs that have this problem.

Don't buy if you have iPod.......2005-11-15

The songs on the CD are great. Jane Monheit has a beautiful voice and she performs several christmas classics well. This "enhanced" version is horrible however. Sony has "enhanced" this version of the CD so that you cannot import the music into iTunes and then subsequently play it in your iPod. You can only use it in Sony digital players.

Gets better the more you listen.......2005-11-07

Jane Monheit opens her Christmas album by venturing into new
territory in "This Christmas" with a pop RnB style reminiscent
of Mariah. And she pulls it off. You can hear Jane's classical
training behind the smooth tone and phrasing carried over a
wide range. This is pop RnB with class. I find this piece an
amusing stylistic novelty that ends up fitting well with the
rest of the album after about the third listen.

The middle of the album displays the exquisite romantic
phrasing that is Jane Monheit's trademark, as well as fun
pieces that are crisp and clean as snow.

Jane shows her soul and vocal technique as she rounds out her
Christmas program with a prayerful and haunting finale
"My Grown Up Christmas List" that captures the true spirit of
Christmas.

The fans will love Jane Monheit's Christmas album, and many
others will find it a welcome addition to their Christmas
CD collections.

I love her, but COPY PROTECTED DISC!.......2005-11-04

Come on, Sony. I'm a computer programmer and I can't get your secretly installed software off my computer! Jane had one of the most beautiful voices on the planet but I won't be listening to it on my DELL DJ because if I rip it, I end up with Sony stealing a bit of my hard drive. CAREFUL EVERYONE!
