Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars One of my dearest CDs.......2005-10-29

I purchased this CD about 5 years ago. When I had played it a few times, I rushed to find Ms. Frankels other 2 CDs. They also are gorgeous.

Judy is a rare singer. She works in a direct fashion--blessedly there is not a drop of schmaltz.

The songs are gems, and nothing could be more fun than to listen with the words in front of you. When you have a little knowledge of Spanish and Hebrew, the fun is great, and lets you think about the interplay of cultures and the history of the Sephardim.

I have a fair sized collection of Hebrew and Yiddish records. I find I reurn again and again to Judy's work. It always clears my mind and my palate. I have long ago fallen in love with this wonderful atist in the same way that so many of us have fallen in love with Joan Baez.

Her work never disappoints me.

5 out of 5 stars Judy Frankel's Stairway of Gold--her number one CD.......2001-03-23

I have collected three of Judy Frankel's CDs. In my opinion, Stairway of Gold is her best one.

There is a nice blend of slow and fast-paced songs. She has a beautiful voice, and her songs are easy to listen too and even join in and harmonize--regardless of whether you know Spanish or not. Also, it's fun to hear the mixture of Hebrew into the Spanish. I would suggest this CD to anyone who enjoys World Music. Also, check out my review of Yosefa's The Desert Speaks!
