Dynamic Soukouss.......2003-08-31
Most tracks on this album are played at a relentless pace and feature the rallying vocals of soukouss master, Sakis and Co. and the guitar brilliance of Nzenze, Madoka Caen, and Nene Tcakou. This MELODIE cd contains 50 mintues of music and 10 tracks, and is available online if you look hard enough. Sakis and his Dynamic System are a live act who employ abundant dancers of great agility to Animate the audience and enflame their show. This is apparent in the music.
Like other renowned purveyors of soukouss, such as Aurlus Mabele, Dany Engobo, and Awilo Longomba, Sakis has produced dance dvd's that are also worth hunting down.
Being an African guitar lover, I keep playing track 4, "Tempile", which features the virtuouso guitar lead of composer N'zenze. But the whole album is loaded with high pitch guitar trickiness that is irresistible. The French Antillean connection is evident in the creole language classic "Soukouss Zouk Amour"(track 8), with its invocation to "Dansez, soukwe"...With music like this you'd have to be a prune not to.
Happy music that will never lose its spirit. Sakis chaud.
