This is what music is supposed to do for people - make them happy. Aragao sings and plays with irresistible joy, and, in this raucous live setting, he and the audience are celebrating, making love together. The rhythms make you happy you're alive. Aragao's vocals are transcendentaly soulful (it also doesn't hurt that Portugese is about the most gorgeous language on the planet). The disc ends with its one instrumental track - the most rocking version of "Ave Maria" you've ever heard. Enjoy!

This is the kind of samba that could only be made in Rio de Janeiro. Americans have tended to make samba into elevator music with a Latin beat, and in Brazil, sensual dance music and pagode have tarnished the real samba scene. But Jorge Aragao. . . . This guy is incredible. You've never felt a beat like this. It's not a loud beat that's forced upon you like techno music in a nightclub. This is the kind of beat that enters your ears softly, unnoticed, and gets inside you, running through your veins, your lungs, your heart, and coming out of the tips of your toes to your very eyelashes. It is impossible to listen without moving. Whether you get up and dance or merely tap your feet to the beat, this music will get inside of you and will remain a part of you long after the last track is over.
