Festa da música na terra dos deuses e diabos.......2006-07-13

Além do país do samba, bossa, choro, tropicália, etc...one of my biggest disputes with 'brasilianistas' and 'brazucas' alike is fact, Brasilian instrumentalists are, more less ignored when they approach styles that transcend the famous idiomas I mention above.

Even O Bruxo, the eternal and universal Hermetão does not carry the caché of the Veloso and Gil. Jacobo do Bandolim and da Vila,Badem e Bonfã, etc etc...

Seu Vinícius is a WORLD class músico, and as I always say (with NO regard to criticisms), if Vinícius was "vince", and an "american from USA", he would be a household name!

A giant, his piano is more fluent than most "full time pianistas", but his tough tenor (to use the jazz frase), soaring soprano sax, and flute indicate a unique voice with frasing influenced by both the USA jazz giants and the famous sounds of the "patropi"! ( mother Brassssssil!).

Another "aplicado discipulo" of Hermeto Pascoal, his compositions on this CD are not as much in the imitation of his mentor , but a subtle art to mix "música instrumental brasileira" with the more advanced sounds that both Dorim "hears" in his soul, and the influence of O Bruxo besides!

Hermeto Pascoal, Arismar do Espírito Santo, Nene, Andre Marques, Irio Jr., Eneias Xavier e Fernando Correa , wonderful that they are mentioned by Amazon above! All excelent "sidemen" who contribute much to the musical interplay, very telepathic, as ONE unit, one musical mind.

There are many fine example of this type of sound, very difficult to find outside of Brasil. Both new (Thiago do Espírito Santo, Fernando Moura, and many more) and old (Pé ante Pé, Lélo Nazário e Grupo Um, Pau Brasil, etc etc.).

So, to return to Dorim, I will not mention track to track, but to implore to find this recording, and let the musics flow from your soundsystem into your deep synapses in your creative sfere of your curious MIND! haha!

Please do your "best" to try to find these sounds, no Cds collection should be without them!
