5 out of 5 stars Best Steel Drum Album Ever Created.......2002-08-27

This album was originally released on the explorative label "Nonesuch" which released a number of other incredible African, South American and world music in the 60's and 70's. This album represents the most soulful, serious collection of Carribean steel drum carnival music ever put togther. This music is not the modern steel drum music you may recognize as a mechanism to entertain tourists. Heavy African influences can be heard throughout this album as this was what the original players of the steel drum created specifically for the Carnival season in the Carribean. My father bought this album in 1975 and I listened to it the entire time I grew up. I haven't seen it since. Buy this one, you won't regret it.
