Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Pino is a genius.......2002-12-07

This CD is one of the best from a true master. A true musical genius whose lack of fame is only due to the fact that he writes in Italian and not English. I don't know what the fellow in South Africa heard but this is a truly great CD that I have enjoyed thoroughly for more than a decade of steady listening.

4 out of 5 stars Key work in his career.......2000-06-06

From 1979, this is Pino's 2nd solo album, and what a beauty it is. 12 tracks that have a great Mediteranean and at the same time Worldly feel when you listen to them. His 1st album mostly being influenced by Pino's Napolitan heritage, his 2nd starts to show his interest in other musical cultures (latin, jazz, blues).

You can still hear that his roots were planted in Naples, but with this album he starts to stretch his musical style. 'Chillo e nu buono guaglione' has a nice Latin feel to it, 'ue man!' is a very cool an bluesy track.

On this album Pino starts to develop his unique style of world music that is so charactaristic for the rest of his career. That is what makes this album a key album in his repertoire, and therefore a 'must have'!

4 out of 5 stars One of the many good albums of Pino Daniele.......1999-06-28

I decided to write this review, because I do not agree with the comment giving only 2 stars. I am a great fan of Pino Daniele and know about every album he has recorded. This one is his second album which already shows his talent for combining elements from jazz, latin, Italian and blues in his melodic music. This album contains much more than two good songs and even one of my all-time favorites "Je Sto Vicino A Te" ("I am near you"), which is sure to send shivers down your spine, even if you do not know Italian.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing.......1999-01-21

Although I am a great fan of Pino Daniele, the CD Title is misinforming....I ordered the product from South Africa and when I received it, turns out it was recorded in 1979 !!!! Only two good tracks......I wouldn't recommend it !
