Customer Reviews:
My Egyptian Girl.......2005-11-16
If you like belly dancing this CD is for you. All the tracks are good. Track # 6 is my favorite it reminds me of a girl that I dated an Egyptian who really made an impression on me; she was a real professional dancer when it came to belly dancing, and other things too! She gave me this CD as a gift to remember her and asked me to write a review about it. I thank her very much for the CD and other things too. It will always bring good memories and it holds a great sentimental value to me. Five stars for the Egyptians!
Khamis El Fino...Fond memories from Samira who worked with him in Hollywood.......2005-07-18
The 60s were the heyday of belly dancing in L.A. in clubs such as the Fez.
The one musician who stands out in my memory is Khamis El Fino Ali. He was a beautiful performer and an inspiration to a beginning belly dancer. The beautiful music of Khamis and the teaching skills of Maya Medawar, an Egyptian dancer/singer provided me with a career that I loved.
The cd features beautiful oud and lyrical renditions that are evocative of mystical nights along the Nile. If you are looking for more drums, choose another album. If you are looking for the "essence" of Egyptian sound, choose any album by Khamis.
I taught many students in L.A. and O.C. who loved to dance to the music of Khamis.
Submitted with fond memories of a truly great and gifted musician and gentleman.

Traditional music, but too much singing and not enough drum.......1999-03-01
The songs are in a traditional Egyptian rythmn which makes them easy to dance to and play zills, but I found the emphasis on singing not very appealing. There are few drum solos since most of the tracks are songs, and there is not much variety. As a dancer, I am less interested in this CD than in others that have less emphasis on singing and more emphasis on varied rythms and drums.
Great "classic style" music.......1999-01-06
Loved it! Doesn't have all the synthesizers, just great traditional instruments. Very danceable. My husband even loved it!
