Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Best Praise from any Mass Gospel Choir!.......2003-08-05

You probably won't find another Mass Choir Praise album like this. When I first heard Toronto Mass Choir I was blown away by the diverse sound. It was about the same time I was a listener of Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir music. I won't choose between the two, but Toronto is excellent. The story behind the Mass Gospel Choir is that in 1988 the Association of Gospel Music conducted an open audition to those interested parties. Over one hundred people showed up and devoted their summer to produce a LIVE recording by that fall. The rest is history for the first Rhythm & Blues Mass Choir of a fast growing number of this genre today. With the success of the LIVE session, the group wanted to go further and with much prayer and by the grace of God, they're still going strong. It's too bad that Toronto Mass Choir hasn't made more of the forefront in the United States popularity. Even though they have toured some of the U.S., this mass choir shouldn't be missed. 'Instrument of Praise' (title song and contemporary jazz instrumental version) is their third album. I was truly blessed by all these songs and you will be, too. The songs are quite simple but has great depth. You can feel the power of the Spirit. The 'Teach Me to Dance/I Will Dance' is a reggae number. You will experience the joy in, 'Holy Spirit Come and Fill This Place.' 'Soar Like an Eagle' and 'Ain't Got Time to Die' combine all the efforts of their diverse sound and thrilling vocals. The mix of reggae, jazz with traditional and contemporary sounds give it an urban feel. It's combination of music makes this choir so unique. The vocals of the people are so right on! You just got to experience it to see what I mean. I just can't say enough. All I can say is-WOW! What a blessed heavenly gift. Reggae and Jazz enthusiatists will like this as well. You're sure to love 'em.
