I start so many reviews of the many musicians from Brasil that are unjust marginalised and unknown in the 50 USA states, to say, if Carlinhos Malta was from USA, he would be heralded a 'genius".

A prolific composer, incredible musician, sassofone, flauta,and pifano (The Brasilian piccolo), as well as 1st call sideman for too many artistas to mention, this recording another in the diverse offerings from O mestre Malta, his gift to terra!

The compositions on this CD, recorded as an affectionate kiss to Brasil's wonderful Elis Regina, grande interpreter of the classic compositions of Brasil's most wonderful composers. (Elis can be compared, maybe to the Sara Vaughn in USA, among others...).

This recording deserves a long -wind, track to track description, but I spare your eyes to READ too much, and in anticipation of hearing the recording, the surprises that await "you"..

Recorded with the usual group of "craques", top flight músicos in the small group setting, if you look the song lista, compositions of the legendary Tom Jobim and Milton Nascimento, as well as equal legend with only less recognition in USA, Edu Lobo and João Bosco, this CD reflects the incredible harmonic and melodic approach of Dom Carlos and sidemen, augmenting the already rich , complex melodies and harmonies of each composer.

A more mainstream effort than Carlos Malta's more esoteric projects, a MUST for every 'jazz' and .or Brasilian musics fan's collection!

No less an endorsement, Carlos was key sideman in O Bruxo , Hermeto Pascoal's (arguably) most famous grouping!

A series od controlled explosions, as musics SHOULD be, no??
