Customer Reviews:
Lovin' the Latin.......2004-10-08
I give it a 75, I can dance to it. (For the young folk, that is a reference to the rating that "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" got on American Bandstand.)
The cuts on the album have a great Latin rhythm, crystal clear guitar work, and nice vocals. The cuts are generally upbeat, without being saccharin or bubble-gum. The CD has a good mix of vocal and instrumental cuts.
The synthesizer on some of the cuts is a bit over-played, but it generally provides good accompanyment to the guitar.
Wicked cool.......2004-06-08
So its not technically purist flamenco - it doesn't make itself out to be. It says "passion" right there, which is what its about. The record is awesome to just sit back and listen to (i also recommend Spanish Dreams). Anyways, two of my roomates just had to go build a bear at Disneyland, needless to say, the other two roomies and I really weren't going to sit around and watch, so we hung outside and listened to Robert Simon live -- and it was easily ten times better than the already awesome CD, we just basically stood there with our jaws on the ground for like two hours. Get the CD, and if you're not all bent on technicality and "what it SHOULD sound like" you'll love it. Thats all i really have to say about that. Anyways, towards the real audiophiles out there, the recording really doesn't do the artist justice, the levels are just a bit off, and the synth/keyboard is a little heavy, as it in the bass in places, but oh well right? =)
Beautiful and energetic guitar music.......2004-04-20
This CD is a product of an extremely talented guitarist Robert Simon. I had the joy to see him and his wife in concert at Downtown Disney last year, and I purchased all their cd's. I can't understand how somebody like "no name" from San Antonio, Texas, can write such a non-sense review. This is not traditional flamenco by any means. And who cares if Robert is playing with a pick or his fingers. His sound, and the quality of his original compositions are outstanding. So called, fun from San Antonio, Texas, give me a favor: get a hearing aid, you really need it!
What a Surprise!.......2004-04-01
I happened upon this dynamic duo recently at Downtown Disney while waiting for others to complete their obligatory souvenier purchases. When they were finished shopping, they joined me, and together we were mesmerized by incredible skill, talent and passion that these fine artists demonstrated only a few feet in front of us. It was as close as I have come in my life to be hypnotized. I was entharalled by their music and have listened to little else since. Their music, both original and borrowed stand on their own and should be appreciated and enjoyed for what they are instead of what they are not.
