5 out of 5 stars Review.......2003-11-21

NYC based MegaMen: DJ Dimension and William Rosario have gathered the abstraction of House Music's trippin sounds with the hardcore edge of Hip Hop, and Funky Soul combined with a touch of wicked turntable techniques, in an effort to conceive a musical genre all their own...GHETTO SOUL

GHETTO SOUL SESSIONS is a MegaMen Sounds / Waako Records compilation pulling together global undergound sounds representing House Music's past , present and future. The set opens up at peak hour with 'Dark World' a sultry ghetto groove that only MegaMen can deliver. 'Sleep Tonight' follows, a chunky Hard House banger by Jeremias Santiago. Next Definitive Grooves takes us higher with the discofied grooves of 'Feelin Good'. Continuing the MegaMen drop the 'Ghetto Soul Theme'. Followed by 'Burnin' a peak hour dance floor anthem by Robbie Rivera & Axwell.

The mid point of the mix brings us latin style soul and classic House vibes with 'Love Commandments' featuring the sweet soulful vocals of Gisele Jackson produced by Louie 'Balo' Guzman with its driving conga groove which leads us into 'El Sonido' an upbeat excursion by Jungle Soul. Next the jungle chants rise with 'The Latin Allstar' with 'The Gypsy Chant' and then Jungle Soul returns with 'Born In Brasil'. By this point we are deep in the jungle with the jazzy tribal sounds of Alex J's Afrocuban Remix of 'Feel the African Sun', followed by 'Yo Shorty' a sexy, slinky rhythm featuring the slick rhyming styles of Big Ro produced by MegaMen. The Hip Hop influence continues with 'Havin A Party' a definite party, break beat style groove by Concrete Beats.

The CD rounds off with a blend of smooth Deep House. DJ Dimension's 'Best of Me' rides with its deep bass line and a warm strings played by Henry Maldonado. Followed by the classic House styled mix of 'That's House' by JD featuring The Moody Groova providing us with a roll call of House Music past and present heroes. Wrapping up the mix the William Rosario features the uplifting vocal styles of Solymar with 'See The Light' reminding us the there is light at the end of the storm.
