This album is a nice collection of tangos, milongas, and valses from a small combo, usually just bass and piano. The sparse instrumentation provides a quiet, intimate sound. The choice of material spans the entire history of tango. One particular high spot is track 8, a medley including three classics: El Firulete, Desde del Alma, and El Portenito. I only wish they had included full length renditions of each of these songs.
