Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Fresh & Funky disk.......2003-07-09

We bought this at a rest stop in Skye and it has been playing in our CD player for 2 years straight - lots of different kinds of samples for those who are not familiar to this genre of music - highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars The best Scottish folk compilation by now!.......2001-09-18

I bought the CD without even listening to it first - it was enough for me to see the names like Capercaillie, Martyn Bennett, Mouth Music and Talitha MacKenzie to know that it just has to be good. Even with such an anticipation, as soon as I put it into the CD player, I was left stunned. This is one of the rare folk albums for which itýs needed to find new words in rating the folk music. Because it is folk, of course. But it is also rock, jazz, drumýnýbass, dance, funk, world music... And although it is a Scottish-folk compilation, it is far more world music compilation than any I have heard by now. With Scottish music as a basis, these artists are really taking the listener for a journey around the globe, adopting the strange, exotic, luscious influences of Orient, Spain, Balkans, various parts of Africa, Scandinavia, Brazil... And, strangely yet amusingly, they all fit together just perfectly. Because they were put to this fusion by professionals. And - mind you: this is a CD for everyone!
Not just for Scottish-traditional-folk-root-world-music-fans.
